Research
For my research, I have done a lot of research on the camera function and how a camera works I also have done research on the genre that I will use and the composition I will use in my project I have also done the research on photoshop, and I have analysed the artist, which was part of my project as well, it was like practice one for my project 1 research.
In my research project, I did some research about the camera option to use went well because that helped me in my project to know what I had to do with the camera when I had to take some pictures for my project. What didn’t go well, in my opinion, was to do research on the artist because I could not find 2 artists that were in the same music industry which is hip hop, and couldn’t find a good poster of both of them which led me to waste some of the time too.
The overcoming challenge and obstacles that I had were to find the right information for my research and I pretty much enjoyed the challenge and the obstacles because they taught me that I could do them better and get over them by doing the mistakes did in my obstacles and learning from them.
If I do the research again I would make a plan on how to maintain the time for my research so I can do it in a different way and do it better because I will have good time management and I will know what I have to do and if I listen to the instruction given by my teacher it will make it way much easier the next time I do it.
The strength areas in my research are that I have put enough information in for my research and I have done them in ordinary so it will be easier to understand what my research is about. the weaknesses in my research is that I have not gathered much information for the artist and spending a lot of time on researching on one thing and not following the brief about the research correctly.
Pre-production planning
The pre-production task was about getting the paperwork done about risk assessment equipment needed, permission forms, legal and ethical issues, consent release forms the location sheet, and everything that includes this task I had to complete the sheets and had to ask my teacher to sign one of the forms so I will have the allowance to go to the place and do my photoshop, other than that I had to complete the risk assessment so it would have helped which places were dangerous from a rate from 1 to 5.
The location recce was a document that I had to complete and talk about which place around Wakefield I can use to take my photoshop and if so, do they allow cameras there to take pictures or not to.
I also had to fill in a form which was about which equipment I am going g to use and why it will be useful for the photoshoot. This went well because I had planned everything for what day I will do the [photoshoot depending on the pre-production forms planning.
Some things didn’t go well because I was not allowed to take some of the equipment with me to take the pictures.
In the future I would do it in different ways such as having good planning and something where I can take all the equipment, I need to do my photo shoot and be able to get some better pictures to make it look greater and professional.
The strength areas in my project are that I was I got along with the timing of the planning I did for the assessment such as what time I have to go and shoot the pictures and what will be a good place to take the pictures, my weakness for the pre-production task was that I was not able to take enough equipment’s to take the pictures and not knowing how to connect them to the camera and how to use them which was a waste of the time as well.
In my opinion, my research in informing the project was valuable because it thought me how the camera worked, and it showed me what each button on the camera was able to do which made it easier for me to take pictures as it gave them advantages of knowing what the cameras were about.
production
For my production task, I had to go to the studio and hold a camera in my hand and take pictures of my friend I took around 30 to 40 pictures because it was my first time taking pictures and I wanted to get used to the function so I could take better pictures between all the pictures I took I only selected 16 of them which led me to have some good ones and some bad one.
Taking pictures and telling my friend what position he has to pose to take a picture went well because I knew what I was doing and I knew how I could have pulled it off by getting some good pictures, some stuff didn’t go well as the camera flash was not working and the battery of the camera was not full, so it led me to have less time to do my job of taking pictures. In the future, I would like to have a good camera with all the battery and equipment with me because I will have more time to take the pictures patiently without worrying about the battery dying or not getting enough good shots.
The strength areas of my production where I knew the rules of the camera such as the grid line which I used to take the pictures and it was very useful, the weaknesses of my production were that my hand was shaking when I took the first few shots on the camera, and I couldn’t figure out which pose I shall tell him to stand and how I will elaborate on taking a good picture.
My research about the production was valuable in my opinion and I learned a lot of things for having my first experience in the studio by holding a camera and taking shots I must improve and take steady pictures and have a plan that will match exactly the day of my production.
Post-production
For my postproduction task, I had to take the shots that I took and take them in the software called photoshop and mess around and make a poster out of it with a background some text so it can look like a good project fr the music industry.
Editing the background went well for me in my opinion because I had to cut out the background and only have the character, what didn’t go so well was to find the exact tool to edit my image because sometimes while editing I came across tools that were looking like same but each had a different solution so it was hard to find out what each could do.
I came across challenges such as getting the background removed and cutting out layers or missing steps which I got used to and found the way to not get lost by saving each step I did for the editing in photoshop.
In the future, I will learn what each tool is capable to do and I will do some practice before actually attending to do the task so it will make it easier for me to edit in the future because I will have the exact knowledge of what I have to do and how I will do it.
The strength areas in my editing where I had used some of the tools so I could get along with them and I knew the ideas I should use to make the final project look good, the weaknesses of my project was that I struggled to rotate the character around I couldn’t find the exact tool that will allow me to do the certain things I want to do.
I think the post-production task in my project was valuable because it thought me how to edit and how to deal with the struggle meant I’ve faced in the editing and how I improved through it so in my opinion, it is valuable.
MY IDEAS TO IMPROVE FOR PROJECT TWO
In my opinion for project two and the project that I will do later I would like to improve my time management skill and how to work with my colleague so in that way it will be easier to communicate and explain which things his good at and which I am good at and which we ain’t good at, it will improve the knowledge and I will be able to do well in my projects and hand them in time.
I would like to get research with good information and make less mistakes in my spellings which will make my project easier to understand, I would also like to add more information in the future project which will be relevant and I would sort my folders out in my one drive and the pages so it will be easier to access and I will give names to my portfolio picture so when I edit or do something to them it will be easier for me to access them.
