research

For my research task I have done the followings which are doing research on what the audio is and how they make sound and etc…, after that I have also watched a video of Ben Burt who is a person that made the sounds for the movie wall-E and many other movies, Ben Burt video was about how to make different types of audio using your own voice and your body rather than objects and how to edit them and how they can use these in a movie and make them sound differently. I also talked about which mics we should use and which device we should use to record audio such as the Tascam.

In my research one of the gears was talking about the objects, which were the types of mics that I am gonna use to make my recording and which potable recorder I will use, for me this went well because I already worked with these objects before doing my research so I knew what they were about and how I will use them.

Researching about the objects I was going to use for my research went pretty well because I already did example work with some of them so I had an idea on how much I can talk about them and how well I will be able to describe them and how I will work with them later on in the project.

What didn’t go well in my project for the research was getting information of more objects I can use for recording and to search up the different and most common sound to make and I did not it because I did not have enough time to finish it off or I will be behind with my assignment.

I did well through my overcoming challenges such as giving giving enough information out for my initial research through secondary and primary so whoever reads it they will be able to understand what is going on here.

In future I would love to manage my time properly and give way much information on my research page so, and make it useful so it will give out people more information that will be meaning full to understand.

My key areas for my strength was that I knew how this relevant information will be beneficial and I knew how it could be useful and could be used in many other ways, my weak areas were on my initial research when I did not put much relevant information in I will make sure I do put enough relevant information in my next oncoming project.

My research was not much valuable for my short film I should have put more stuff about how the short film is going to be like and I should have used similar examples to show this is how mine will be but with different story so it would have made more sense.

Pre production planning

For the pre production planning I went through a risk assessment where I had to to rate 1 to 5 if anything will be dangerous while doing the recording of the sounds and also I also had audio recording session and they were also considered as health and safety issues. I also went through what kit I will be using, which is equipment’s and what props I will need to have to make the following sounds.

The risk assessment went well because I knew what risk will come up and how dangerous it will be and how I will be able to prevent from it.

The props I will need did not go so well because I did not have the right props I needed to do the following sounds.

I overcame well for the obstacles that came over in such as having the right equipment’s to record the sounds, I had two different mics for my recording of sound and I had my phone as well for extra recording on it as well.

In future I would have the right props and I would have more equipment to make the following sounds so the sound will be more clearer so it can be heard better than before.

The strength areas for my research was that I had the right equipment needed and I also prevented any risks from recording the sounds. the weaknesses were that I did not have enough prop to make my sounds for my project and also the shots we shot they did not sound much clearer after the recording was done.

My pre production planning was medium it had good information about the risk assessment I did and it also had good information about the equipment’s I was gonna use to do the following recordings of sounds for the matrix.

For my production I have made a folder named as portfolio which has all the videos and audio of the used footage for the sound clips I have made similar to the movie matrix. it also has images of the set up we did and all the images related to the project for the production.

Recording sounds went well because all we had to was try to make a noise and record it quickly and it could have been as much longer as you wanted but we made it only 10 to 20 seconds longer.

What did not go so well and as planned was to record the lines that were spoken in the movie be similar as the one you had to do it.

I overcome well from the obstacles that I had to go through such as recording the voice notes in the movie and make it sound like the same as they say and also have a good set up and not to struggle doing recording session.

In the future I would like to do more sounds recordings and have talk nice and slowly through the mics so I don’t hear all the loud noise that is barely heard.

My production was half way valuable according to me because I needed more props and more sound ideas to make it sound professionally done.

post production

For my post production task I had to edit my recordings out and I did them in adobe audition 2022 were I had to remove the original sound ands add on the exact timeline my sounds so they could play in the short clip.

Editing the sounds out went well because I messed around with the software and found different ways to change the sound audio and turn it out to be a different audio add some robot audio and make it sound way different than the original.

Trying to save the edited clips in my post production folder did not go much well as if the software would not let me add my edited to clips on my folder and if it did it would have been disappeared from the folder completely but still was recovered from the software on recent.

I liked the overcoming obstacles in my post production because they were the ones that were a bit more challenging to solve such as finding the right matching sound in audition and lowering the sound or turning it up, and editing a clap, to sound like a gun that has just has been fired, so for me that was a good practise and fun.

In future I would like to spend more time on audition and learn different ways on how to edit the sound properly so it will urn out really good and sound way different than the original.

My post production was valuable for informing my short sound clip because it had more than 4 sounds that were edited in and used I have used them as well and it turned out pretty good as well.
