I have been asked to make a small movie trailer for my project so here I will go through the movements and shots type moreover I will use for my short film trailer.

Shot types,camera angles

ECU is extremely close up shot this type of shot usually only shots that are close to your face. These types of shots are used to show the emotions of the characters to the audience, these close shots tell us that that person or object is really important.

A medium shot is a type of shot that can take up the body of the character and is a type of shot that shows the background and what the character is doing, these types of shots show what the character is doing and how they are feeling.

The long-shot is known as (LS) as well is the type of shot that shows the whole body of the character. This type of shot is used to show locations and relationships of characters, this is a shot that is normally used as the first shot to start a particular sequence.

The low-angle shot is a shot that is taken from the bottom and it shows the character’s face and what they dressing this type of shot is taken by the camera being positioned under the person or a certain place. this type of shot can make a person look powerful or somebody that is important.

High angle shot is a shot that is taken from above the person or place, this type of shot can make a person look vulnerable, this type of shot is used a lot in movies such as marvel and many other actions movies, this shot is designed to make the audience side with the characters in the shot so it can be all seen at once.

The establishing shot is also known as (EST) is a shot that contains a lot of information by just that one shot. this is a wide shot usually this shot is used to give information about the location is.

Now I will talk through 30 seconds of the movie trailer which here is Batman the dark night and talk through which shots have been used and what they are showing us, I did the same for the Chocolate Factory movie as well which is below the first movie trailer

if you pause the video in the first 30 seconds as you can see an establishing shot is taken this shot takes the whole screen and is telling us their location, few seconds on we get the medium shot which is when the batman closes the door and in that shot, we can see the batman character clothes and the background. at 49 seconds if you pause you can see a shot is taken which is the long shot which is showing us the whole body of the civilians and is showing us what is happening to these characters

At the start of the trailer as you can they took an establishing shot which gives us information about their location which is a small village/town, couple second later there’s a medium shot which shows us trucks loading chocolate boxes,13 seconds in there is a high angle shot which shows us Charlie looking up in the sky, at 25 seconds in there is a low angle shot which shows us what Willy Wonka is wearing and it shows the information of the location his entering.

These videos information will help me decide what types of shots and angles I will need to shoot my own video because it describes me how the camera moves slowly in and out and how it can be changed from one side to another.

what is storyboarding?

Storyboards are powerful way to visually present information, they also explain a process and show the passage of time. At their core storyboards are a set of sequential drawings to tell a story.

A storyboard reveals whether a concept will work or not, a concept is literally verbalized in a couple of paragraphs. A storyboard helps you to validate whether the concept is working or not therefore it determines the direction the course is going to take.

Primary research

For my primary research I will show you some pictures of me and my teammates practicing some of the work for the actual movie trailer and talk through the feedback that I have received.
